Whiling away an afternoon by the Exeter Ship Canal is all too simple in our garden. You can choose a sunny spot right by the water or take shade under our stretch tent as you sip a refreshing local cider or beer from the outdoor bar.

Our Pub Garden in Exeter

There is nothing quite like sipping on your favourite pint in our sunny beer garden. Nestled on the banks of the historic Exeter Ship Canal surrounded by leafy loveliness you’ve found yourself in one of Devon’s finest spots.

Both family-friendly and dog-friendly we have oodles of space for all to enjoy, from our enviable tables on the waters edge to our covered and heated stretch tent offering a welcome shady retreat, (or an escape from a shower!)

Whether you choose to paddle or peddle to the pub we are fully equipped to cater for your needs. There are pontoons opposite the pub to access the canal either side of the lock gates. If you joining us by bike we have ample space to secure your bikes outside the main entrance.

Exe Estuary Trail

This exceptionally beautiful ride along both sides of Devon’s radiant Exe Estuary is fairly flat and offers fantastic river and estuary views. It conveniently passes through our garden and we have plenty of bike racks out the front of the pub for you to secure your bike to pop in and refuel.

Covered and Heated Garden

Our stretch tent offers the perfect shady retreat or an escape from the unpredictable English weather. Fully heated and with cosy blankets for those cooler days.

Exeter Canoe & Kayak Loop

Our pub is just a 40 minute paddle from Exeter Quay. The canal offers calm waters, perfect to enjoy a leisurely paddle taking in the glorious scenery and wildlife. When you arrive at the pub there are pontoons either side of the lock gates for you to hop off and join us for a well-earned pitstop.
