The best pub visits start before you reach the bar. Wander along the Exeter Ship Canal, cycle the Exe Estuary Trail or paddle up and moor by the lock gates. Coming by train? Marsh Barton train station is a short walk away, and there’s a car park on site if you’re driving. Dogs can come along too – muddy paws are always welcome.

Once you’re here, take your pick: a table by the water, a spot under our covered, heated stretch tent or a cosy corner beside our real log fire. Add a pint, a proper pub lunch made with seasonal British ingredients, and perhaps another hour by the canal. Sounds like a day well spent.
